About the Festival
The Musica Sacra Festival is dedicated to sacred music in all its forms: from Gregorian chant and Renaissance polyphony to the great oratorios and requiems of the classical and romantic periods, through to contemporary sacred music compositions. Concerts take place both in the Great Hall of the Palace of Culture and in the historic churches of Targu Mures, taking advantage of the exceptional acoustics of these spaces.
Concert Types
Organ Recitals
Masterpieces of organ literature performed on historic instruments in Targu Mures churches. Works by Bach, Buxtehude, Franck, Messiaen.
Choral Concerts
The Philharmonic Choir and guest choirs perform masses, motets, cantatas, and sacred oratorios. From Palestrina to Arvo Part.
Symphonic-Choral Concerts
The great sacred works of the universal repertoire: Requiems, Te Deum, Stabat Mater, performed by orchestra and choir in the Great Hall.
Church Concerts
Musical events held in the historic houses of worship of Targu Mures, taking advantage of the unique acoustics of these sacred spaces.
